Registration is now open for the fun and fast paced 4v4 tournament.  The games are designed to keep everyone involved in the fun.  Small sided soccer is recommended by US Youth Soccer as the single best way for young players to learn the game, plus its FUN!  Click here for more information or to register. If you register before April 1st, you save $10 on the fee.

Registration is open for the Winter 'B' and 'C' Micro soccer programs.  The 'B' session runs January 9th to February 13th.  The 'C' session runs February 27th to March 26th.  Both are held at the Hoover Middle School gym on Monday nights.  Click here to go to the information page.

Occasionally we are asked what steps Kenton Soccer takes to protect children.  It's an unfortunate sign of the times that we have to have that conversation, but it makes us happy to see that parents are concerned and asking.

Kenton Soccer participates in the New York State West Youth Soccer Association's risk management program (click here to review that policy).  That program (and Kenton Soccer's own policies) require that all coaches, assistant coaches, volunteers, and anyone else who has contact with any children complete a background check.  In addition to the background check, they are required to self disclose any events which could affect the outcome of the background check.  Of course a background check and monitoring can't replace parental involvement and intuition, which is why we also recommend that parents stay involved by talking to their children and watching practices and games.  Besides showing concern, it tells your children that you care about them and what they are doing.

Kenton Soccer is also participating in the US Youth Soccer Concussion Protocol.  This protocol clearly defines steps and procedures to follow in the event of a suspected concussion injury to any youth player.  This information will soon be provided to all coaches, along with a short training video. The goal of the program is to proactively manage any potential concussion injuries, especially since new information about the risks are being identified everyday.
