CONGRATULATIONS -- KENTON CHAMPIONS
by Tom DiNunzio
April 28, 2008

The Ken-Ton Kascade U-16 girls travel team won the Northern Ohio Cup U-16 Championship in Lodi, Ohio over the April 12-13 weekend. The tournament featured forty degree temperatures and rain with a tornado touching down near the area Friday night . The fields remained in very good condition considering the amount of rainfall they received in a forty-eight hour period. The team went 4-0 beating teams from Cleveland , Toledo and the Akron, Ohio areas. Goals were scored by fowards Colleen Wiechec, Chloe' Badhorn, Kelly Burke and Meg McGowan. Wiechec led the team with six goals. Lisa Johnson and Marisa Martinez shared the goalkeeper duties evenly, allowing only one goal by way of a penalty kick. An outstanding midfield crew comprised of Hannah Bachwitz, Marta Pilat, Molly Mitchell and Elizabeth DiNunzio created scoring chances all weekend. Handling the defensive chores for the Kascade were Nicole Azero, Stephanie Aichenger, Danille Charboneau and Kaitlan Kapios who shut down the opposition especially in the final against Toledo Celtic.

The Kenton Avalanche Boys U-10 travel team won their indoor league Championship.

The Kenton Bulldogs Boys U-14 travel team won all 4 games to take the Championship in the Akron Soccer Tournament. They also won the Odenbach Cup Tournament Championship.

The Kenton Chaos Boys U-16 travel team was a Finalist in the Championship game in the Batavia Soccer Tournament.

KENTON SOCCER SHOE EXCHANGE PROGRAM
by Jeff Rickan
December 21, 2006

The Kenton Soccer Association has initiated a soccer shoes exchange program at Gino’s Pizza Place, 351 Fries Rd, across from Kenmore East High School.

The purpose of the program is to provide access to new and slightly worn soccer shoes for both indoor and outdoor play. There is no charge for any shoes that you take. We only ask that if you can, please leave a pair of soccer shoes that your child may have out-grown or no longer wear. Those that do not have a pair of soccer shoes to exchange are still encouraged to participate in the program and find shoes that will fit your child’s needs. The program will be ongoing throughout the year. Donations are greatly appreciated , if you have a pair of new or slightly worn shoes, put them to good use and drop them off at Gino's.
